Capt. Tom Timmerman

I came to the Keys in 1980 to start a training program for another facility in Key Largo. With the help of the PADI Modular Scuba Course, we began the first ever 4 Day Open Water Course Program in the Keys. My partner Pam and I started Florida Keys Dive Center (then called Florida Keys Dive & Ski) in 1983, and slowly built our dive business with emphasis on training and the attitude of helping our customers leave the Keys better divers than they came. Our main goals were to establish a quality training facility in the Keys with our final goal of attaining Instructor Development Center. We reached Instructor Development Center status in 1987. A new goal was reached in 2001 by receiving the PADI Career Development Center Rating.

In the 30+ years we’ve been in the diving business, we’ve always strived to promote quality diving and diver training with a personal touch. This can only happen if you have a crew that is dedicated to the same. We’ve been blessed over the years to have had some of the finest people in the dive industry working for us. Many of these have gone on to start their own dive stores. Without the help of our Lord and the dedication of people like these, there is no way we could have reached the many goals that we’ve attained since 1983. Today, our present staff is one of the most experienced groups of people ever assembled under this roof.

Whether you are looking for great Keys diving, beginning level training or advancing on to the many other levels of diver training, Florida Keys Dive Center has the people to help you achieve that goal. We look forward to helping you discover new horizons in your diving and to showing you some of the best reefs and wrecks the Keys has to offer.
