Frequently Asked Questions

When choosing a PADI 5 Star Career Development Center to obtain your instructor training, the below listed considerations should be explored:

How long has the facility been teaching the PADI IDC Program?

FKDC has been licensed by the State of Florida since 1987.

How long have the PADI Course Directors who will teach my course been actively teaching PADI IDC’s and are they full time?

FKDC has 2 full time Course Directors on staff with more than 30 years experience teaching IDC’s. They have trained in excess of 600 IDC Candidates.

How many candidates will be in my IDC?

FKDC’s IDC program average between 3-6 candidates.

Does the facility “GUARANTEE” passing the IE or your money back?

FKDC does NOT have such a guarantee. Our philosophy is quite simple: we teach you “how to teach” in the real world of scuba instruction, not simply “how to pass” the IE. Our goal is to give you the necessary tools to teach scuba diving in a safe and efficient manner. The success rate of FKDC IDC Candidates of 100% speaks for itself.

Does the facility offer job placement after the Instructor Examination

As a graduate of FKDC Instructor training programs, you’ll always have our resources behind you when looking for employment. The great training you receive from Florida Keys Dive Center combined with our consistent reputation among resorts and dive operators seeking new employees, will give you the tools you need to land the job that is perfect for you. We regularly receive requests from dive operators throughout Florida, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Hawaii, cruise ships and live-aboards seeking Instructors. We in turn, offer our graduates to these prospective employers on an individual basis. It is then up to you to “sell” yourself to the employer!

Does the PADI 5 Star CDC I am considering have an “Internship Program?”

As a graduate of FKDC Instructor training programs, candidates who we believe will mesh well with our staff, be courteous to our customers and perform the duties requested of them, have the opportunity to stay with us for 1-2 weeks and “intern” with our staff. You will instantly put the skills you learned in the previous courses to work for you in a real resort setting and gain experience in the operation of our dive center and in training various levels of students. Furthermore, you will polish those skills to be even better prepared for your first job in the business.
